After the islanders returned from their Christmas break on the 16th January, they had their first fishing day on the 19th January for 2012, this followed by another 5 days landing a total of 17,158kgs in January.

On the 10th February the bulk carrier MV Zagora on her way from Brazil to China carrying Soya, called at Tristan to seek medical attention for a sick crewmember.
