A new Danish observatory on a remote island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean will provide researchers with new knowledge about the mysterious irregularity of the Earth’s magnetic field known as the South Atlantic Anomaly
Gillian Merron, Overseas Territories Minister, hosted the tenth meeting of the Overseas Territories Consultative Council (OTCC) on 28 and 29 October 2008 at the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform in London. Premiers, Chief Ministers, Councillors and other representatives from Britain's Overseas Territories attended. The Council is held annually in London and provides a forum for consultation with British Government Ministers.

The Gough Island Nature Reserve, along with Inaccessible Island in the Tristan da Cunha Group of islands, forms one of the United Kingdom's few natural sites registered with the World Heritage Convention.
This year I took the September sail on the SA Agulhas from Cape Town to Tristan da Cunha. The passage was a little turbulent, but we all arrived safely.
The Constitutional Review Team will arrive on 12 November 2008 to continue discussion on a revised constitution for St Helena. Their visit will last for approximately two and a half days.
The OTCC concluded on Wednesday after two full days of discussions which had been largely positive and constructive.

It is with sadness that we report the death of Ken Rogers. He was admitted to hospital, after having a fall that broke his hip, and died on the 24th October.
