Four people who have been closely involved with the four British islands in the South Atlantic met at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on 26th May.

When Flat Stanley left St. Clement’s Elementary School in St. Bernard, Ohio on the 5th of November 2003, no one knew that by the time he finished his travels, the paper cut out would be travelling to each of the South Atlantic British Overseas Territories. That’s a trip of approximately 20,000 miles by air and by sea.

On the weekend of 30 April to 02 May 2004 the winds were favourable for the long awaited trip to Nightingale Island on the Island’s Longboats.

A juvenile Wandering Albatross – Gony as it is locally known – has landed at the head of the valley near the road leading to the potato patches.

This would be the first ever landing by the Endeavour zodiacs, the first for Tristanian students, first for me and the other passengers.
