- The islanders are back at work after having a hectic Christmas and New Year. All Government Departments closed for the Christmas Holidays on the 21st December and opened again on the 16th January.

- When we last reported on the lobster landings at Tristan, we were falling behind due to a spell of bad weather, however this has since changed due to a period of exceptionally good weather over the last week, and landings at the Tristan factory have beaten the landings for this time last year.

 - Cape Town’s Two Oceans Aquarium today hosted a special celebration as its Shoreline Café, destination for thousands of hungry visitors each year, became the first restaurant in Africa to be certified to the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)[1] Chain of Custody standard for seafood traceability.

- 8: SOUTH AFRICAN NAVY RESCUE INJURED CREWMEN FROM TRISTAN - Tristan (Fisheries) - 07.05.2011
 - Thanks to the sterling efforts of the South African Navy, injured crewmen off the Chinese fishing vessel, Lai Ching, have been transported to Cape Town for further medical treatment and repatriation. The SAS Isandlwana, which left Simonstown at 2100 on Tuesday night arrived off Tristan at first light on Saturday 7 May.

- A Taiwanese fishing boat, Lai Ching, suffered a gas explosion at about noon on Friday while fishing in the southwest Atlantic, resulting in three dead, four missing and 18 injured, according to a Central News Agency (CNA) report.
