- A recent debate in the Foreign Affairs Committee about the Constitutions of British Overseas Territories has sparked interest in territories in the South Atlantic.

- Foreign Office Minister, Chris Bryant, today welcomed the new St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha Constitution Order 2009.
- 4: TENTH OVERSEAS TERRITORIES CONSULTATIVE COUNCIL MEETING - All (Government) - 12.11.2008
 - Gillian Merron, Overseas Territories Minister, hosted the tenth meeting of the Overseas Territories Consultative Council (OTCC) on 28 and 29 October 2008 at the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform in London. Premiers, Chief Ministers, Councillors and other representatives from Britain's Overseas Territories attended. The Council is held annually in London and provides a forum for consultation with British Government Ministers.

- 5: Constitutional Review Team to Visit St Helena - St Helena (Government) - 05.11.2008
- The Constitutional Review Team will arrive on 12 November 2008 to continue discussion on a revised constitution for St Helena. Their visit will last for approximately two and a half days.

 - The OTCC concluded on Wednesday after two full days of discussions which had been largely positive and constructive.

- 8: CONSTITUTION OF ST HELENA, ASCENSION AND TRISTAN DA CUNHA - All (Government) - 29.06.2008
- The draft Constitution, dated 25 June 2008, has been published for the purpose of public consultation in St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha during the coming months. In large part it is a modified version of the draft Constitution prepared in 2003-2005, and includes some of the constitutional reforms discussed at that time.

 - In 2005 a draft new Constitution of St Helena was prepared. It would have introduced a system of ministerial government. But the people of St Helena rejected that proposed change in a consultative poll. In doing so they also rejected a great deal of potential improvement that had nothing to do with ministerial government.

- Baroness Hooper asked Her Majesty’s Government what plans they have to act on the findings of the National Audit Office report on the overseas territories.

 - Meg Munn, Overseas Territories Minister, hosted the ninth meeting of the Overseas Territories Consultative Council (OTCC) on 4 and 5 December at the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform in London. Premiers, Chief Ministers, Councillors and other representatives from Britain's Overseas Territories attended. The Council is held annually in London and provides a forum for consultation with British Government Ministers.
- 12: Seaman Stabbed on the South African Research ship SA Agulhas in the South Atlantic. - Tristan (Government) - 01.10.2007
- In the early hours of Friday morning 28th September 2007, Tristan radio and the Administrator was informed of an incident by the master of South African research ship the SA Agulhas, which was operating within Tristan da Cunha's EEZ.
- 13: St. Helena Swears in Acting Governor - St Helena (Government) - 11.05.2007
- This morning, 11 May 2007, Ethel Yon, Deputy to Governor and Acting Chief Secretary, was sworn in as Acting Governor for St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha.

- Nomination Centres closed at 12noon yesterday, and shortly after, it was announced that 16 people had been put forward to stand in the 2005 General Election. That is seven for the East Electoral Area, and nine for the West Electoral Area.

 - The South Atlantic Island of St. Helena will have a consultative poll on their proposed new constitution on 25 May 2005.

- 20: Attorney General to take post in Cayman Islands - St Helena (Government) - 30.01.2004
- Attorney General Kurt De Freitas OBE QC, will be leaving St Helena in March of this year to take up his new post of Solicitor General in the Cayman Islands.
- 21: TRISTAN TESTS NEW ARCTIC 24 RESCUE RIB - Tristan (Government) - 23.01.2004
 - Thanks to the British Government, Tristan now has an Arctic 24 Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB). She was built by the UK firm, VT Halmatic and arrived on Tristan on the 6th of May 2003. Conrad Glass Tells us more.

 - Luckily fire on Tristan da Cunha is not a regular occurrence. And, in the past twenty-five years, there have been only three incidents where homes were burnt to the ground. Stanley Swain tells us more.
