New Island Council elected to serve until 2013

The Island Council Election due to take place on 10th March 2010 did not take place due to there being an insufficient number of nominations for Councilors.  Also due to a complication in the electoral process, it was some time before the new Councilors were sworn in.  However, all is now in place and the new Council is made up of new nominations, members of the previous Island Council, and three Councilors nominated by the President of the Council Administrator David Morley.

The new Chief Islander is 39 year old Ian Lavarello, who works for the Public Works Department, the first Lavarello to hold the post.  The other council members are as follows;

Robin Repetto - Electrical Department

Beverley Repetto – Prince Philip Hall

Dawn Repetto – Tourism

Lorraine Repetto – Finance Department
Marion Green – Island Store
Iris Green – Post Office & Tourism
Anne Green – Education Department

Dereck Rogers – Agriculture Department
James Glass – Fisheries Department
Conrad Glass – Police Department

We wish Ian and all the new Councilors all the very best; to what will be a very changeling three years.
