HMS Liverpool and Black Rover

On the 9th September the HMS Liverpool and Black Rover passed close to Tristan on route to their next port of call.  A helicopter from the HMS Liverpool with the Captain and two ratings made a quick stopover at the settlement, and visited the post office etc, whilst having a chat with the Acting Administrator Conrad Glass.  Most of the children were at the field and watch the helicopter did a few wheelies!! much to the delight of the children.

SA Agulhas

The SA Agulhas arrived at Tristan on the 11th September, after being delayed due to bad weather and operational problems.  The weather was overcast with strong winds, and the conditions did not allow the passengers to get ashore by helicopter.  The next day the wind had moderated and the helicopter flew the passengers ashore, the sea state however did not allow any offloading, until the next day, the 13th September.  Even though the sea state was not 100% the islanders were determine to get the 4 cars onboard off, as the vessel was departing for Gough Island at midday.  All went well and all cargo was landed without any damage.

Arriving on the Agulhas was a number of family members living in the UK who were visiting for the three weeks, scientific personnel, the dental team, and the Monsignor from the Falklands.

MV Kelso

The MV Kelso departed Cape Town on the 12th September on her second fishing trip to Tristan, she is expected to arrive late Thursday evening the 18th September or early Friday.
