Shipping News - MV Edinburgh Delay

It is reported from Cape Town that the MV Edinburgh's estimated departure on the 16th June has been postponed until Friday 20th June.  This is due to unforeseen repairs being carried out while the vessel is in dry-dock.

This is not welcome news for the islanders who watch half the cargo return to Cape Town on the last voyage due to extremely bad weather.  The Edinburgh had stayed at the island on that voyage for almost three weeks, the longest any cargo vessel had waited to land the cargo.  It is unfortunate that Tristan has had a run of bad luck this year, and as a result the supermarket is running very low on some items, and run out completely of others.  It is not a problem for the grown ups, but it is difficult to find substitutes for the babies and children.

We hope that everything will get back to normally soon, and islanders are hoping that Captain Clarence luck will prevail on this coming voyage.
