On 11th March 2007, Tristan Calum Young was born to Paul and Melanie Young (nee Glass). Tristan is a brother for Kayliegh and Dave, and weighing in about 7lbs-10oz. All is well with the mother and baby.

The birth of Tristan Calum Young.

On 11th March 2007, Tristan Calum Young was born to Paul and Melanie Young (nee Glass). Tristan is a brother for Kayliegh and Dave, and weighing in about 7lbs-10oz. All is well with the mother and baby.

The Return on Monsignor Michael Macpartland.

Monsignor Michael MacPartland returned to Tristan on the National Geographic Endeavour after joining her at the Falklands in order to stay on Tristan until the end of April. Tristan's Roman Catholic Congregation welcomed him and hope to make his stay an enjoyable one.

The Arrival of the Ms National Geographic Endeavor.


The Ms Endeavor arrived at Tristan on Monday 19th March, after sailing from Ushuaia on the Argentinean side of the Tierra del Fuego, via the Falklands and South Georgia, and on a five-day trip to Tristan. The cruise ship was meant to arrive at Tristan on the 18th March and stay for a further day, but due to bad weather she only could stay at the island for a few hours before going across to one out of our four islands, Nightingale, to go and have a look ashore. On board where 90 passengers and 82 crewmembers. The last visit the Ms Endeavor did to the island was in 2004, when she had just been simply called the Mv Endeavor, in order as the cruise ships first trip to Tristan using her National Geographic title the Captain Oliver Kruess presented Administrator Mike Hentley at the Reception held on the Residency lawn with a ships plague. Guides from Tristan accompanied the passengers on there way over to Nightingale, and also Inaccessible Island. The guides the returned back to Tristan that evening before the cruise ship set sail to St Helena. Some freshly caught lobster was given to the ship, and some grown potatoes were taken on board for family and friends down at St Helena. The Ms National Geographic will be finishing her voyage in Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, around the 7th April after seeing St Helena, Ascension Island and Cape Verde Islands.

Ships Visits.

The next cruise ship to arrive at was the Professor Molchanov, which cruised Gough Island on 21 March and called at Tristan and the outer Islands on the 22nd-24th March.
She landed passengers at both Nightingale and Inaccessible Island.  Two Tristanians Leon Glass and Frank Swain departed on the vessel to Ascension via St Helena to connect with a flight to the Falkland Islands, they are hoping to stay for six months.

The Sailing barque Europa is scheduled to visit Tristan on Good Friday with 35 passengers, facilities will be available after the church services, and she will stay over the Easter weekend.

The HMS Endurance will return to our shores again on the 12/13th April.
