*Landings of lobster at Tristan improve.*

The landings of lobster per day this year at Tristan, on average, has not
been as good as in previous years, although there has been an increase in
the number of days and this has helped the landings. November has produce
almost twice as much as last year, and for the first time since the new
concession holders took over in 1997, has there been a whole week fishing
(Monday – Saturday) from the 22nd November – 27th November.

The total TAC caught from July – November this year is 102,073 kgs (57%)
leaving a balance of 77,927 kgs (43%) to be caught. Below is a table
showing how much improvement there has been from last year. Although, the
fishing boats are carrying an extra trap and two hoop nets per day.

The highest landing from a single fishing boat for this season has been
760kgs, on the 12th November by Martin & John. Let’s hope that fishing
continues to be good, and that the fishing vessel *MV Edinburgh* will not
have to catch the balance of the Tristan quota as have been the case in the
previous three years.
