A TRISTAN FIRST: THE ACTING ADMINISTRATOR IS A WOMAN

By J. Brock (SARTMA TdC)

Anne Green, who took over from James Glass as Chief Islander, has another notch in her leadership belt.  When the Administrator, Bill Dixon, left Tristan for business reasons recently, Anne became the Acting Administrator – the first woman ever on Tristan da Cunha to take over the post.

Members of the Tristan da Cunha Council, that took over on 27 October 2003, are: Leon Glass, Carlene Glass Green, Joanne Green, Marion Green, Amanda Swain, Trevor Glass, Anne Green, Dilys Green, Lewis Glass, Neil Swain, and Edward Rogers.

James Glass, the outgoing Chief Islander, has lead the Islands people through the worst disaster since the October 1961 volcano eruption – that being the 2001 hurricane that damaged and/or destroyed all but one building in Edinburgh, the Island’s settlement.  We at Tristan Times, and indeed, the Tristan da Cunha Association, wish him well in his future endeavors.
