The Administrator announces to the community that the Island Council has agreed the appointment of Chris Bates as Tristan Government representative in the UK. Chris will be well known to many members of the community, from his visit to Tristan in 2006.

He pointed out that it was important that Chris, who agreed to work for Tristan in an unpaid capacity, does not get bogged down doing personal favors for islanders, either resident or non-resident. Chris will work exclusively on Government business, as agreed between him and the Administrator, and have asked him to refer any requests for assistance that he may consider inappropriate back to his office on Tristan.
