RANULPH FIENNES RETURNS TO BRITAIN

By J. Brock (FINN)

Stroud and Fiennes on their way into Stanley last Monday.

Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the British Explorer who faced the Polar elements and trekked thousands of miles across freezing continents and oceans, has completed his latest challenge – running marathons on seven continents in seven days. His last marathon, in New York, took him five hours and twenty-five minutes to complete, with the fastest time recorded being in the Falklands, representing the Antarctic leg of his marathon quest, at four hours and thirty minutes.

With his running partner, Dr. Mike Stroud, the seven venues included South America, the Falkland Islands, Australia, Singapore, United Kingdom, Egypt and the United States.

Sir Ranulph has now returned to the United Kingdom. He completed the marathon series in aid of the British Heart Foundation. It was four months ago that Sir Ranulph underwent bypass surgery.
