HEAVY SEAS DAMAGE CALSHOT HARBOUR

By J. Brock (SARTMA-TdC)

Heavy seas like this weakened the west side of Calshot Harbour.

News from Tristan states that extremely heavy seas experienced at the Island on Monday, 15 November 2004 washed seven blocks off the west side of Calshot Harbour.  One of the blocks fell into the Harbour itself.  No one was hurt during the bad weather.

Temporary repairs have been made to Calshot Harbour, with full repairs being planned for a later date.

November has been the wettest on record in Tristan da Cunha in living memory.
