TRISTAN VOLCANO SEISMIC ACTIVITY NOT PROVEN AT THE MOMENT

By J. Brock (SARTMA-TDC)

Reports from several sources have been coming in to Tristan Times Online about seismic activity around the 1961 volcano.  They began to filter through on Friday, 30 July 2004 but at this stage, they have not been proven.

According to Tristanians, the 1961 volcano smokes and even vibrates occasionally but no one pays any attention to it.

SARTMA-TDC has searched sever geological survey websites and none have reported any seismic activity on Tristan da Cunha.  However, if things change, Tristan Times Online will keep readers informed.
