On Sunday the 2nd March both the Catholic and Anglican Church celebrated Harvest Festival and Mothers Day.
Harvest Festival is usually held towards the end of the harvest, however this year it seemed to be early, with families bringing their vegetables and groceries to the church the night before, where these are decorated around the church. All produces received will be brought together by churches and distributed to the islander's pensioners.
Mothers Day was also celebrated by children giving their parents flowers and cards during the service. It is also the custom on Tristan for families to visit and pay their respect to the departed mothers and lay flowers, although the graves are visited and flowers replaced every Saturday.
