During his working life Neville was a fishermen, worked for the Health Department and later in the Agriculture Department until he retired.
Death of islander Neville Glass
Neville Glass was born on the 2 March 1940, and was the youngest child of Joseph Fuller Glass and Elsie Glass (nee Swain) he died on 19th May 2007, age 67, after a week in hospital. He is survived by his wife Minnie, son Kevin, and his sister Pauline Green. Unfortunately at the time of his death his son Kevin was at Nightingale Island with a team of other islanders and bad weather prevented his return for the funeral, he returned two days later.
During his working life Neville was a fishermen, worked for the Health Department and later in the Agriculture Department until he retired. He was part of a team of 12 islanders who formed part of the Resettlement Survey Party who returned to Tristan in September 1962. These islanders were responsible for preparing the island for resettlement following the volcanic eruption in October 1961. The remainder of the islanders returning in March and November 1963, after the houses were repaired, and crops planted. Neville was a quiet, and helpful member of the community and will be missed by all.
