TWO NEW JOURNALISTIC SCOLARS FOR SARTMA
By Sarah Glass and J. Brock (Tristan Times)
Two new scholars from Tristan da Cunha will learn about the basics of Journalism while visiting the Falkland Islands. Their basic course will take two months and cover reporting, news gathering, photography and research. Basic business accounting using Microsoft Excel, internet posting and resource development are also on offer for Leon Glass and Frank Swain. They can elect to do SARTMA’s intermediate course in reporting, regional news gathering, resource development and business development.
The concept is to train the journalistic scholars to produce an online newspaper from Tristan da Cunha so they can develop the business and be paid by their newspaper when they return.
Both Leon and Frank will help to design the newsroom for SARTMA at 16 John Street.
