Weekly News From Tristan

The photos show Sarah Glass and Kieran Glass and Eugene Repetto and his Mum on Eugene's 18th Birthday.

Kieran James Peter Glass was born on the 2nd July 2006. Kieran is the youngest baby on the Island at the moment, he is three months old today. Kieran was baptised in St Joseph's Catholic Church on the 24th September 2006.  The service was at the RC Church at 9am and afterwards there was a reception at Prince Philip Hall for the Godparents and the community.  The Tristanian word for Godparents is, the Godfather is called Fardie, and Godmother Muddish where these words originated from I'm not certain.

Lorna and Drew Smith also baptised their two girls Charlie and Abbie on the 24th September at 8am in the Anglican Church, with a reception at the School Hall afterwards.

Eugene Repetto (son of Desiree Repetto) celebrated his 18th Birthday with a Birthday party in the Prince Philip Hall on Friday the 22nd September, opening the dance with his great grandmother who will be 90 in a few months time.

Donald Hagan ended his fishing career on his 70th Birthday on Friday the 29th September, landing 1,019lbs of lobster on his last day as a fisherman.  Donald and his fishing partner Andrew Green had been fishing together for four years, although Donald use to fish with his brother and had been catching lobster around the Tristan Group for 54 years.  He now works part-time in the supermarket.
