Part 1: Election of Executive Council Members and other beginning items

A meeting of legislative Assembly took place at 0900hrs LMT on Thursday, 25 October 2018 in the Court and Assembly Chamber of the Town Hall. Present were the Financial Secretary, the Hon Mr James Andrew Wilson, the Attorney General, the Hon Mr Simon Young, the Commander British Forces South Atlantic Islands new Representative, , the Clerk of Council, Mrs Cherie Clifford the Acting Chief Executive, (James Andrew Wilson) and the Speaker of the House the Hon Mr Keith Biles. Also present were MLAs

Prayers were said by the Rev Mrs Kathy Biles on behalf of Christ Church Cathedral. The Speaker, after welcoming everyone asked that all mobile phoned and other electronic equipment be turned to silent mode.

During this meeting the election for members of Executive Council took place.

CC: Election of Members to the Executive Council

KB: I appoint the Attorney General and the Honourable Financial Secretary as tellers for the purpose of this election. Honourable Members, you will find in front of you a set of ballot papers. The first ballot will be for a Stanley Representative for Executive Council.

While this ballot was being compiled Dr the Hon Barry Elsby said that he did not wish to be considered for Executive Council at this moment. MLA Mark Pollard also said he did not wish to be considered for Executive Council at this time.

KB: While that count is going on we need to swear in our new Member as a representative of Commander British Forces.

Group Captain Matthew Nicolas took the oath and seined the relevant documents.

KB: Honourable members, the results of the first round are that the Honourable Roger Spink is elected as the Member for Stanley on Executive Council.

The next round of ballots was for a Member from the Camp constituency to be on Executive Council.

KB: The results of that round iare that the Honourable Ian Hansen is the Member from Camp sitting on Executive Council.

Finally, a round of votes took place for a member of either Camp or Stanley to be a Member of Executive Council.

KB: The results for that round for a Member from either Stanley or Camp – the Honourable Stacy Bragger. So the composition of Executive Council for the following year from November will be the Honourable Roger Spink, the Honourable Ian Hansen and the Honourable Stacy Bragger.

Conformation of the record of Legislative Assembly held on the 27th of September 2018 was signed as a true record by the Speaker.
